Discipleship

Along with ministry training, NC:MC is also about discipeship. Our hearts desire is to raise up students to be life-long followers of Jesus Christ who will passionately pursue Him. While Jesus was on Earth His disciples followed Him wherever He went. They learned as Jesus taught, they watched as Jesus ministered to the people and He gave them the example of His prayer life.

Our discipleship program is based on these principles of how Jesus trained His disciples. Our program consists of 40 weeks, broken up by quarters into 4 - 10 week sessions. Each session we spend time focusing on a different aspect of discipleship, not that we don't work on some of these areas during different times, for instance we will be spending time in prayer when it is not specifically the upward block. We will be spending time in ministry when it is not specifically the block for that. But we will have an emphasis on different areas during certain times.  Here is a look at how we break down the 40 weeks:

  • The 1st of the 10 weeks is spent focusing INWARD (developing you). Just as Jesus spent time teaching His disciples we spend time pouring into you and teaching you in personal development areas.

  • The 2nd 10 weeks is a focus UPWARD (you and God). Extra emphasis is given on prayer and fasting and spending time in the presence of God.

  • The 3rd 10 weeks is an OUTWARD (ministry) emphasis. This involves training in different areas of ministry from youth and children to missions and evangelism.

  • The final 10 weeks is spent with a focus HOMEWARD (launching). We spend the final 10 weeks preparing you to impact your home or wherever you might be heading next.

I am not the same person that flew in from Boston nine months ago. My spirit longs and desiress to give God all the glory instead of seeking glory for myself.  My treasures are being stored up in heaven instead of on earth.  (NC:MC) has geared me up for my future... Prayer and Scripture study has changed my life. The traveling we have done has opened my eyes to the great need in this world... I've grown to be hungering for the Word of God, my heart is truly being transformed.

 Brad Swanson - 1st year student 2010

Wow, is what I think about how I have grown this year. I have been a Christian since I was 14 and been growing in Him. When God called me to ministry I knew He would open up doors to be trained.  God called me to Master's Commission and I feel so blessed to be a part of it. Since I have been here I have been learning more and more about my Savior. The foundation of my faith is firm in Him.

I know I am at the right place at the right time. God has been blessing me so much.

  Vicki Chaney - 1st year student 2010

Since I became a part of NC:MC 2 years ago I have grown so much. The great thing about MC is that you grow every day through even the smallest things, like living with a bunch of other students 24/7!  The morning prayer times has been key in my growth in my walk with the Lord.  This time has shown me how fruitful time in His presence really is.

Because I come from a spiritually dead country (The United Kingdom), being in a place where I'm surrounded by others with the same goal/purpose has really made a huge difference in my life.  We've been able to encourage each other in our walk with God and pray for each other.  I've made some of the best friends I have ever had here at NC:MC.

The thing that has impacted me the most is probably that I have really learned to plug into the "power source" (The Holy Spirit). I hadn't really been taught about this part of God until I came here and it has changed my life and my walk with God.

Ministry Training

At NCMC we not only engage in educational classes but each student is also involved in hands-on ministry training. Each of these ministries give the students a unique learning experience. Some of the ministries students are involved with are:

Mission and Outreach Trips

Students travel throughout the US regularly ministering in churches and youth ministries, being involved in outreaches, and even taking the Gospel to the streets. Students also travel outside the US on a foreign mission trip once each year. During each of these trips students learn what it takes to be involved with each of these ministries.

Local Outreaches

NCMC students are involved with many outreaches locally each year. Some of these outreaches in the past have included:

School Assemblies and AVID tutoring, Trip to Hell (Halloween Outreach), Bethlehem Live (A Christmas walk-through drama), Crusades and more.

Church Ministries

We are involved with a number of ministries on a weekly basis in our local church. Students will learn the "in's and out's" of these ministries. They include:

Driv3n Youth Ministry, City Lites Children's Ministry, Young Adult Ministry, Worship, Outreach Team.
